Frequently Asked Questions
These are just a few questions that clients may have, of course I'm happy to answer any others at the consultation stage or in a message prior to booking.
What is it?
Permanent Make up also known as (PMU) micro pigmentation is a procedure which deposits medical grade pigments colour into the skin. Whilst traditional body tattooing lasts a lifetime, PMU is semi-permanent due to the depth of the pigmentation into the skin.
As we age, particularly those of us, who are going through or been through the menopause lose volume, definition and colour in the lips. Having this treatment can give the youthful look back to your lips.
Who can have this?
Almost everyone of all genders can benefit from permanent makeup treatments as long as you are over 18 years of age- proof of ID may be required. However, there may be some medications, health issues or pregnancy that means it is not be advisable to have this treatment. This will be discussed at the consultation appointment.
Can I have any color?
The system that I use offers clients to try out colour before the treatment stage. If you have a favorite lipstick or shade then we can try and match this, but there is no 100% guarantee it will be exact, as this also depends on the clients natural underlying skin tones. The general rule is to go in lighter as we can always add darker/more colour at the top up stage.
How does it last?
Permanent makeup can stay in the skin from 1-3 years. Results can vary and depend on many factors; the device used, pigment choice, skin condition, health conditions, clients age and lifestyle. Permanent makeup usually fades slowly, and if it is not refreshed it can disappear completely. The darker ink, the longer it will take to fade away.
Will it hurt?
The numbing cream is applied 15-20 minutes to the area before the treatment. Once the cream is applied the whole process should be quite painless. But everyone has a different pain tolerance, and some people find the procedure to be only minimal discomfort, while others may find it painful.
Will it make my lips look bigger?
I can only work on your natural lip skin and add colour to the areas where it's been lost, this can improve the look of the lip making them appear fuller and more defined.
Immediately after the treatment your lips will have swelling and look bigger, however this usually subsides in 48 hours.
Can I have the treatment with lip fillers?
Yes, you can, however its recommended that you have the fillers before any lip blush, however you must wait at least 4-6 weeks between treatments.
I've had previous lip tattoos can you cover over it?
This all depends on if your previous color has faded enough, I cannot top up other people's work, or lighten darker colour. Therefore, it is essential that clients are offered a consultation so in these cases I can assess the old pigmentation and to check the skin is favourable for tattooing, in some cases it might be necessary to have old colour professional removed.
Currently I am not offering clients a tattoo removal service however this is something that I may do in the future.
Are Top Ups always required?
Most clients need more than one treatment, as the colour will fade by 40%, during the healing process, new procedures take at least two appointments to complete. It is perfectly normal for the skin to reject some colour in areas and there maybe a few patches that come away. At the top up appointment, we can check how your skin has taken the colour and make any necessary adjustments.

Yes, being a passionate animal lover myself, the brand that I use is Tina Davis which is not only one of the best on the market, but also Vegan and Cruelty Free.
